Properties
GM+ is a water based acrylic dispersion. Compared to the GM 3000, the GM+ has a somewhat greater void filling capability and a much quicker drying time. With 2 applications, the GM+ will be capable of successfully filling pinholes even larger than 5mm in size. Drying time only 1-2hrs.
Adhesion is optimized to meet daily wear and tear. The product forms an initial fixing that will strengthen even further by sequential densification but still be flexible enough to withstand vibrations from sequential grinding and everyday use afterwards.
Advantages:
• Capable of successfully filling pinholes
even larger than 5mm
• Quick drying time (1-2hrs)
• A fixing flexible enough to withstand vibrations from sequential grinding and everyday use afterwards.
• A dry process, i.e. no need to protect surroundings from slurry splashes and no need for cleaning the grinder afterwards.
Scopes of application
GM+ is well suited for small-scale projects where time is of essence, and/or specific areas with large pin-holes (up to 5mm) to fix. Thanks to the dry application process, it is also suitable for areas where you would like to avoid unnecessary splashes and slurry such as domestic projects. Processing Application method is different from the conventional GM 3000 and due to the manual work more appropriate for smaller areas. GM+ is mixed on the construction site with the grinding dust from the concrete surface prior to application, and then worked down using ordinary handheld equipment such as a rubber squeegee or a steel blade. Reason to use the grinding dust from site is that the resulting fixings should better match same color tone of the original floor.
1. NOTE! Make sure to save the grinding dust from previous #80 grit step in a separate bag! (Not to be mixed up with the dust from previous grinding steps to avoid impurities)
2. Vacuum the floor thoroughly to remove grinding dust from pores.
3. Wet the surface with water for approx. 20mins to make it less absorbing (which will otherwise risk draining the water out from the fixings). Remove excess puddles.
4. Stir GM+ well before use! The 10L bucket is slightly bigger than the volume of the grout (9L) to enable a proper stirring prior to use. 1 liter of the grout will last approx. 20 m² in two applications, meaning a full 9L bucket will cover approx. 200 m² with two applications.
5. Mix the collected 80 grit grinding dust with the grout liquid, using an electric mixing rod. (1:1 ratio). Start with the GM+ and then add water until desired viscosity is reached. The resulting consistency should be like “self levelling screed”.
6. Apply and distribute the mixed GM+ manually with a rubber squeegee or a steel blade or by using a putty shovel or alike, and leave to dry for approx. 1–2 hours. Don’t apply too thick, just make sure you work it in and leave some 1mm grout layer on top. Once applied on the floor; if it dries out too quick making it hard to distribute, dampen the floor a bit more with water.
7. Leave product to harden overnight.
Clean equipment with water.
Processing temperature
Avoid direct solar radiation during processing. The surface temperature should be between 10 ° C and 30 ° C (50 – 86 F). Floor heating maybe turn off.
Drying time
The curing time is between 1-2 hours, enabling a second application very quickly if needed. According to ambient temperature, humidity and absorption there could be a difference in curing time. Processability (pot life and application) of GM+ is longer and easier than conventional cement-based grouts, but it must be processed within 45 minutes after mixing.
