The economic recovery of the UK could be built on a foundation formed by concrete tamping.

According to the Construction Products Association (CPA), the best way to drive towards the recovery is by maintaining public sector spending on building projects above 2.25 per cent of the nation's gross domestic product.

This could see spending maintained on concrete tamping and construction in areas such as building eco-friendly housing, maintaining good-quality educational structures and improving transport infrastructure nationwide.

CPA chief executive Michael Ankers says: "Spending cuts and tax rises alone will not secure the long-term sustainable economic growth which must be the government's ultimate goal."

Previous reports from the CPA included its latest Construction Activity Barometer, which indicated that concrete frost blankets could be in demand in the months to come.

With the winter months approaching, concrete frost blankets could help to provide peace of mind to the construction professionals the association reported are concerned about the impact of another harsh season of snow and ice.
