Houses made using brick tools are to be showcased in the Highlands as part of the first ever housing fair held in the UK.

According to stv, a site near Inverness has been chosen to display the 50 best eco-friendly abodes.

Organiser Fiona Hampton told the news provider: "We are hoping to attract people who are interested in architecture, design, construction but also families who are interested in their homes."

The homes will ultimately be available to purchase or lease but, throughout August, their doors will be open to the public.

It is hoped the scheme will support the construction industry and entice as many as 30,000 visitors to the site.

Elsewhere, users of brick tools have been told that green building is coming into vogue, with director of external affairs at the Federation of Master Builders Brian Berry saying that jobs in retrofitting are likely to rise as the government encourages environmentally-friendly properties.
