A property developer put his bricklayers tools to work in an unusual way when he bricked up the door to a bank in protest at lending conditions in the UK.

Cameron Hope admits that the branch was not his intended target, as he planned to stage the protest at his local NatWest in Westbourne, Dorset.

But as police were already there responding to an incident, he instead took his bricklayers tools to Barclays - who had never rejected him for a loan application.

"It was Plan B and we drove up the road to Barclays - nothing against Barclays at all," he says.

Meanwhile, Fareham resident Kim Langley has used her own bricklayers tools to overcome anti-social behaviour in her neighbourhood caused by groups congregating on a nearby footbridge.

After repeatedly having a window in her home smashed by yobs, she has made sure it cannot happen again by bricking up the gap.
