Brick tools might be in demand in the near future as some sectors of the construction industry are forecast to see growth, according to the Construction Products Association - representatives of the UK's manufacturers and construction product suppliers.

Although the construction industry is still lagging behind the economic recovery, an increase in work is expected in certain sectors such as house building, where 32 per cent growth is predicted between 2010 and 2012.

Additionally, work is expected to be available in infrastructure in rail, water and energy.

However, the industry as a whole will continue to struggle. Forecasts predict that by the end of 2010, the sector will have lost £16 billion of work over three years.
The Construction Products Association aims to ensure that public money continues to be spent on construction projects. The body has reported that, at around nine per cent of GDP, the economy as a whole is dependent on the construction industry and it must continue to receive government support.
