Users of concrete finishing tools are to build a new development at Heathrow Airport after one firm was awarded a contract worth £460.

Balfour Beatty has been brought on to construct the second phase of a satellite structure at the transport hub.

The firm completed the first part of the project - known as T2B - ahead of schedule in November 2009 and has been asked to continue working on the building, which will support Terminal 2.

According to the company, it has already designed the structure and is now preparing to construct ten new aircraft gates, a baggage area and underground link.

Balfour Beatty's chief executive Ian Tyler commented: "We are delighted to have been awarded this work, providing an integrated service for one of our major UK customers."

This comes after 250 jobs were recently created for construction professionals in Scotland's capital city, where the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) is being extended.
