The Allen Work Bridge in action at Wimborne.

Allen Work Bridges are being used by main contractor Faircloth Construction to smooth large concrete pours for the base slab of a distribution park under construction in Wimborne.

Faircloth is using the bridges over concrete slabs that are being poured and finished using a truss screed system. The wheeled bridges travel across the ground spanning the wet concrete, allow the Concrete Finishers full access to apply finishing processes such as bull floating and applying chemical spray.

Allen Engineering based in Arkansas, in the USA. They have been brought to the UK by ourselves as we have previous with introducing American innovation across the pond as our Managing Director Peter Dod was responsible for bringing the Bunyan Striker roller screed system to the UK from the USA in the 1980's, this completely changed the concrete finishing process that the UK Professionals were adopting at the time. Pete Dod has been a longstanding admirer of the USA's approach to Concrete Finishing and has attended the annual World of Concrete Exhibition in Las Vegas for well over a decade looking for innovations he can bring back and forging business relationships with many of our partners.

We are pleased to see that the purchase of the Allen Work Bridges which we intended to hire out or sell in the UK market have had a good run-out. The Wimborne site is its first project and feedback from the client has been very positive indeed as the work bridges speed up numerous processes including: applying curing compounds, texturing, floating and surface inspections. It also saves time if you can walk straight across a large wet area rather than having to walk around it all the time.

We look forward to seeing how popular the Work Bridges become in the United Kingdom.
