Concrete tool users may be interested to know that Georgia Pacific Gypsum has launched a new roofing product that it claims reduces sound penetration by more than 50 per cent.

Acoustical performance tests conducted by Architectural Testing in December 2009 have shown that Georgia Pacific Gypsum's roof deck assembly (based around the DensDeck roof board product) blocked out 11 decibels of exterior sounds.

"As airports expand and flight paths change, the need for creating a quieter in-building environment is evolving dramatically," said Reinhard Schneider, DensDeck Roof Board product manager at Georgia-Pacific Gypsum.

The DensDeck roof board range includes three different models: the DensDeck roof board, the DensDeck prime roof board and the DensDeck Duraguard roof board.

The roof boards are designed to withstand de-lamination, deterioration, warping and job site damage.

They all protect against the accumulation of moisture between new and old roofing assemblies with a moisture-resistant specially treated gypsum core.
