Bricklaying tools and concrete accessories look set to be deployed in Cheshire, as new houses are to be built in the area.

The unused Cheshire Warehousing site in Winsford is to be demolished and replaced with a new development consisting of 50 residential properties.

Meanwhile, 37 more homes will be built at the site of the unused Richmond Packaging building in the town, the Winsford Guardian reports.

Carol Clarke, spokesman for HOW Planning, said this land is currently "redundant" and not making any contribution to creating a thriving community in Winsford.

She said she hopes these developments will herald more new construction activity across the area.

"It is hoped the early redevelopment of the site will kick-start further new development as part of the ongoing regeneration of Winsford," Ms Clarke commented.

This comes after Nationwide reported that house prices rose for the sixth month in succession in December 2009.

The company attributed this partly to demand for housing outstripping the available level of supply.
