Builders with concrete accessories and finishing tools look set to be spending more time working on green projects.

According to Jerry Yudelson of Yudelson Associates, consumers are placing more and more focus on the environmental impact of their homes.

This, he said, is despite the financial constraints created by the global economic downturn.

As a result, construction professionals could be likely to find themselves working on more projects that have been designed with the environment in mind.

"More people are going green each year," Mr Yudelson commented.

"There is nothing on the horizon that will stop this trend."

The UK government is already actively encouraging people to consider the environmental impact of their homes.

Indeed, official figures show that residential properties account for a quarter of the UK's overall carbon emissions.

The government recently unveiled proposals for a more consumer-friendly green rating for homes that it believes could help people reduce their emissions.
