Users of
concrete tools may benefit from a new cement collection and recycling service from building materials provider Lafarge Cement.
The firm says the service could save construction companies money as increasing taxes on waste going to landfill set out in the government's Waste Strategy for England 2007 policy mean construction companies may be facing problems finding cost-effective methods of disposal.
From May, British customers of Lafarge will be able to use the current ordering system to request the collection of expired cement. This applies to any amount of the product, whether one bag or a full lorry-load.
Kieron Hall, packed marketing manager at the company, said: "For our merchant customers, it saves money on skip hire and landfill charges and removes the problem of having to dispose of out of date cement."
Lafarge has also pledged to plant a tree in its local area for every tonne of cement it collects for recycling.
