Users of brick tools have won a multi-million pound contract to work on a landmark in East Sussex.

Neilcott Construction has been awarded with the task including renovating a Grade II listed building.

The project is worth £3.5 million and was given to the firm by Rother District Council as part of the Next Wave scheme - a regeneration programme.

Already, the West Promenade is being resurfaced and redesigned, while the renovation of the King George V Collonade is scheduled to start in October and is expected to be completed next summer.

A terraced open space beside the De La Warr Pavilion and a new rowing club building will also be constructed.

Council leader Carl Maynard claimed he was most excited about the creation of the boathouse.

"The new rowing club will stand the test of time and will be a fantastic facility for youngsters from Bexhill and the wider area some time to come," he said.

Neilcott Construction has experience in restoration through previous works including projects on the Sacred Heart School and Cornwall Terrace. ADNFCR-2977-ID-800046117-ADNFCR
