One organisation has claimed that it will make up to 14,000 jobs available for users of concrete tools and other construction workers.

Crossrail expects the roles to be created between 2013 and 2015 as part of its new Skills and Employment Strategy launched today (July 22nd).

The train firm has joined with Jobcentre Plus with the goal of providing work for local people while it extends its routes in the capital city.

Boris Johnson, mayor of London, commented: "The skills strategy and various training and apprenticeship schemes will help us give young inhabitants of this great city the chance to build and benefit from Crossrail as a lasting legacy."

Committed to providing a minimum of 400 apprenticeships over the lifetime of its project, the company is set to deliver placements by the end of this year.

Recently, transport minister Theresa Villiers helped to lay the foundations of a new transport terminal built by Crossrail at Farringdon station.
