Brick tools users in Northern Ireland have put themselves forward for work on the building projects planned in the run-up to the Euro 2012 football championships.

Ten companies in construction and engineering are looking into opportunities that may be available in Poland by taking part in the Invest Northern Ireland initiative, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

Graham Construction and McAleer & Rushe, among other local firms, are to spend June 6th to 10th in Warsaw, having talks with potential business partners.

As Poland and Ukraine are going to be joint-hosting the Euro 2012 games, an estimated £20 billion will go to the building of infrastructure and venues, which the Northern Irish companies are hoping to capitalise on, the news provider said.

In addition, there are 16 training and accommodation centres to be built for the teams and an £800 million budget for six stadia and the supporting infrastructure.

As well as the football, the Polish Ministry of Sport and Tourism has injected £50 million nationally to fund the development of more than 2,000 sports fields in the next two years, the newspaper reported.

For those brick tool users who are looking for work but hoping to stay in the country, the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and Markit Purchasing Managers' Index recently revealed that the construction industry experienced the strongest rate of growth since September 2007 in April.
