Users of bricklaying tools such as trowels and jointers have been advised to make sure they budget every aspect of their building job.

According to Phil Ray of Uk-builder.com, knowing how to use bricklaying tools proficiently is not the only requirement of completing a task.

He said bricklayers must be able to accurately judge the quantity of materials they are likely to need on their next construction project.

This, he said, is because materials are a vital contributor to the overall cost of building work.

"It is important to have an accurate idea of the costs that you are likely to incur," Mr Ray commented.

He added that working out exactly what you need beforehand can help to save time as well as money in the long-run.

This comes after the Dave's DIY Tips website suggested that inexperienced bricklayers practise with their bricklaying tools before getting started on a project.
