Safe access solutions such as Youngman Boards could be in demand among building firms following a recent round of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) inspections.

The regulator noted that health and safety standards were generally good in the Manchester, Salford and Trafford area, but issued 56 enforcement notices at 42 sites.

Construction companies have therefore been reminded to ensure they comply with the law to prevent a worker being seriously or fatally injured.

Polly Tomlinson, the HSE's principal inspector for construction in Greater Manchester, commented: "Hundreds of construction workers are seriously injured every year because companies don't treat the safety of their employees as a priority."

Falls from height are particularly problematic in the construction sector, which means safe access solutions are essential.

Youngman Boards are one possible option to consider, as they provide a secure platform for people working above ground, as well as a full handrail system.

According to figures from the HSE, over 4,000 workers in Britain suffered a major injury after falling from height last year.
