Users of concrete tools have been given the opportunity to bid for work constructing a bridge in Poole.

Contractor Hochtief is outsourcing for certain skills such as road marking, landscaping and architectural lighting, the Bournemouth Echo reported.

The Twin Sails Bridge project is worth £37 million, the newspaper noted and Borough of Poole cabinet member for the economy councillor Ron Parker told the publication many local firms were already involved.

On September 2nd, users of concrete tools can attend Meet the contractor, where they will be told how to make a bid for contracts.

Mr Parker stated there was no guarantee of work but he would encourage local businesses to submit tenders.

The official said the project could see the creation of more jobs and help the local economy.

Elsewhere, Farrans Construction - a Northern Irish firm - was recently hired by the North Down Borough Council to build an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
