Construction workers in the West Midlands who are skilled in the use of brick tools may have been given a boost with the news that a proposed £12.2 million housing development has been given the green light.

Aimed at creating more accommodation within West Bromwich for people over the age of 55, the Greets Green project will see a number of job opportunities created for those working in the building industry.

As well as 92 self-contained apartments, construction professionals will also be tasked with using a range of brick tools to build a community shop, a restaurant and a hair and beauty salon.

Welcoming the news, Sandwell Council leader Darren Cooper explained that this latest development will form part of the ongoing rejuvenation of the local area.

"This and future projects will ensure the excellent regeneration work undertaken in the area to date will continue," he said.

This comes soon after it was also confirmed that concrete tools are to be put to good use in Walsall as work gets underway on the construction of 60 two-bed apartments on the site of an old public house.
