Brick tool users have begun working on Eton Manor - an Olympic Park permanent venue - according to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).
Groundwork started in the spring but the building of the venue itself has just started this week, the organisation reported.
John Armitt, chairman of the body, commented: "Eton Manor will play a key role throughout the Games and leave behind a permanent facility which will benefit the local community for years to come."
Once completed, the location will act as a Paralympic arena and a training facility for athletes during the Games before it is turned into a hockey, tennis and football centre with several courts and pitches for use after the competition is over.
The ODA recently reported that the windows had been fitted to the Main Press Centre - a building that will house 5,600 journalists during the Olympics and which will be converted into commercial property for the use of businesses after the athletics have finished.
