A brick hammer could be a very useful item to have among your bricklaying tools, an analyst has suggested.

According to an eHow contributor, construction professionals will at times need to change the size of a brick.

These alterations can be made with a brick hammer, which the author said is the "perfect tool" to carry out this task.

Builders were advised to mark out where they want to cut the brick and score it with the chisel end of their hammer.

They were then told to score each side of the brick with the chisel end, before striking the brick along the scored line.

Speaking of the brick hammer, the eHow contributor said: "It's lightweight and easy to carry, plus it trims quickly and allows you to get back to your project."

A selection of brick hammers made by W. Rose are available to bricklayers here at the Speedcrete website.

These are quality products that reflect the manufacturer's 200-years experience of making professional quality bricklaying tools.
